10 Bra Styles To Enhance Your Boobs
As a natural D cup woman, I’ve never felt the need to ‘boost’ my cleavage to dramatic heights. In fact, I like people to look me in the eyes during a conversation and not be distracted by my natural given gifts (except my wisdom, of course). However, this doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy highlighting my strengths. On the contrary, I like my breasts to look firm, lifted and separated, under any outfit I wear. No matter how much I exercise, I know I couldn’t achieve my favorite boobs look without my enhancing bras.
Either you are like me, and you need a bra style to lift your cleavage enough to highlight it, or you want to add one or two sizes to ‘the twins’, the 10 enhancing bras styles selected for this post will inspire you for your next shopping session.
Remember! The enhancing bra you search for makes you feel good inside and out, strengthens your confidence, conceals flaws, offers support and, most important of all, is comfortable.
Style 1. The Padded Bra

When I want to increase my bust size under a tight fitting tailored top or dress, I choose a padded bra. This bra’s cups can be light, medium or heavy padded with cotton, fiberfill, foam, gel, silicon or water (see also Style 10). For a naturally looking silhouette, the pads should be thicker at the base and diminish smoothly to the top.
Tips: If you prefer ‘tuning’ your bras and swimsuits on your own, or you need to offset slightly asymmetrical breasts, you can purchase shape-enhancing pads (also known as “cookies”) separately.
Style 2. The Push up Bra
I choose a push up bra when I want to create the mirage of a larger bust under a v-neck blouse or dress. Push up bras also have padding, but this style is specifically designed to redirect the breast tissue toward the center, thus creating cleavage. Push-ups are popular among petite and average sizes, but full busted women should choose them too.
Tips: The perfect cleavage is firm and curved. Boobs should not spill over when walking or moving.
Style 3. The Demi Cup Bra

Usually preferred by petite and average sizes, this bra style can enhance the cleavage and transform it into a luscious appearance by exposing the top half of the breast. The good news is that full figure women can wear it too, even if the demi style for large cups is not a true demi cup bra, but more of a mix between a demi and a balconette bra. Wear this style under anything, but if you’re in the mood for a voluptuous outfit, be sure the demi bra will look beautiful under square and scoop neck tops, evening gowns or cocktail dresses.
Tips: Watch out for the double boob. Boobs should not spill over the top of the bra and create a bulge that shows through the fabric.
Style 4. The Balconette Bra
My most loved and worn bras are my balconettes. Balconettes generally cover one half to three fourths of a full cup, just a little more than demi bras. The cups should end just below where the “twins” raise to create the uplifting effect and cleavage, and they should include a little padding for the fullness effect. With this style, the straps are set wider apart than with the rest of the bras and, because it reveals a wide area of the chest, the balcony bra goes perfectly with wide-necked and scoop neck tops.
Tips: Any woman, in any stage of her life, should have at least one balconette bra in her wardrobe.
Style 5. The Plunge Bra
try Ritratti or Huit
When I have a daring top that I don’t want to spoil the view with cup or center gore with, the plunge bra helps me show what I want to and hide what I need to. A plunge bra always has a deep front silhouette, narrow center bridge and angle cups. Some models include little padding, others none at all.
Tips: Choose the bra with a balanced combination of shaping and cleavage. If you’ve never bought a plunge bra and you are unsure what fits you best, ask a bra fitter advice.
Style 6. The Deep Plunge Bra
Because of the aesthetic nature dangers, the deep V plunging neckline is not easy to pull off. Yet, if you are like me and you dare to experiment a sexier effect from time to time to be the center of attention, you can rely on the deep plunge bra. I enjoy wearing mine with a low-cut neckline cocktail dress or evening gown. The bra shapes and lifts the boobs naturally with the support of medium padded cups. The side boning supports the bust and helps to keep the “twins” firm and uplift (just as we want them).
Tips: This bra’s style straps are convertible, but don’t wear it strapless! Choose Style 9 for a strapless bra.
Style 7. The Plunging Bra with Convertible Straps
Ever since I discovered the convertible plunging bra, I’ve been rocking my asymmetric party dresses. Suitable for all cup sizes, this multipurpose bra can be worn with all those clothes you’ve been hiding in the closet and that you love so much: tops, tanks, racer backs, halters, bandeaus, halter neck dresses with low back cuts or plunging dresses. The convertible bra has different places on the cups and the band that can be used to hook the straps in any way desired, while the boobs stay uplift and firm in all the possible positions.
Tips: “One of the things we look for in a convertible is versatility. Think of a style of top, any style, and the Multiplunge must be up to it”, Petra Bellejambes in the Convertible Test Drive Bra Reviews.
Style 8. The Strapless Bra
try Wondebra strapless lace or Elomi strapless bra
The definition of the strapless bra is obvious, but finding the right one that enhances the bust is more difficult than you can image. As my friend, Petra, wrote in her strapless bras review, how can we make sure the bra doesn’t slip? The answer: buy a genuine bra, with deep underwires that stay in place and provide support and boning under arms and/or in the cups.
Tips: The fit is critical! If you’re wearing a band that’s too big then you’ll never get the support you need, plus you’ll be tugging all night – which is neither comfortable NOR sexy! Ali Cudby, Bra Fit Expert, www.fabfoundations.com
Style 9. The Backless and/or Adhesive Bra
Bra fit experts recommend Fashion Forms and NurBra
I’ve always admired the movie stars who can effortlessly wear deep plunge backless dresses and radiate, but I’ve never dared to try this dress style myself. Recently, bra fit expert Ali Cudby made me reconsider my position. In an interview for TypeF, Ali Cudby says “silicone is ideal when you have a dress and needs a bra that can do the impossible, go backless, strapless and plunge — all at the same time.” I would have never imagined that an adhesive backless bra can do so much, and so well. Yet, I stand enlightened.
Tips: Bra fit experts, Ali Cudby and Linda’s The Bra Lady, recommend NurBra, Fashion Forms or Braza backless adhesives bras.
Style 10. The Water or Gel Plunge Push Up Bra
I’ve decided to list separately innovative bras like water and gel plunge push up bras because they are recommended by specialists as the best non-surgical, breast enhancing system for petite sized women (sounds painless, right?). Their innovative padding system offers a more comfortable and natural uplift than the standard fiberfill pads because the water and gel inserts imitate the feel and movement of our breasts smoothly.
Tips: Choose the bra with seamless cups and sides for a smooth look under dresses or tops.
I want to end this article by expressing my deepest appreciation for all the women who, throughout the bra history, have innovated bras and found the answer to the most concerning problems of fit and comfort. Thank you for the balconette bras, the plunge bras, the push-up bras and the deep plunge bras. I don’t know what I would be able to wear if I didn’t have them in my wardrobe.
